Specialising in Vascular Surgery 30 years ago, my focus has been on Phlebolimphology. I have been honoured with different roles that have allowed me to learn, teach, study and develop the changes that this field has lived. This would not have been possible without the truly inspiring colleagues I have met along the way.
One of my recent interests has been the lipedema patient. The increasing number of consultations and the lack of robust evidence to support the knowledge and management of this entity has led me to search deeply. The fruits of this interest have been my participation in the creation of multidisciplinary dedicated societies such as the Lipedema World Alliance and the Spanish Group of Lymphology. We need doctors and health alliances to be aware of the repercussions that this entity has in different areas of society and what scientific data and lines of investigation we actually have. The greater the interest and participation, the greater the progress.
