After (1978) medical school in Zurich, Swizerland I got my surgical training at the Deparment of Surgery at Boras County Hospital Sweden. There I got interested in vascular Surgery and and from 1988 onwards I continued my training at Malmo General Hospital, Malmo Sweden under the supervision of the late Proferssor Sven Erik Bergenz. My mentor for my thesis "On Vascular Thrombosis " was Professor David Bergqvist. In the ninities endovascular surgery was developed and Malmo became a center in the endovascular revolution with Professor Krassi Ivancev as a driving force. In 1995 I had the privilege to leave Malmo for a one year post doc reserarch fellowship at the Dept of Medicine Emory University, Atlanta, GA. My research focussing on methods of inhibiting neointima hyperplasia in vascular graft anastomes.
Back to Sweden I became the head of the Dept of Vascular Surgery at Malmo University Hospital.
But in 2007 I left the Department and went into private practice. Scandinavian Venous Centre was founded in 2005 so it was two years old when I joined.
From 2014-22 I also had the privilege of being the chairman of the Scandinsvian Venous Forum. Today I still work in the practice on an almost daily basis.
