Tomasz Urbanek, Professor

Tomasz Urbanek is vascular surgeon and vascular medicine specialist from Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. He is the past president of Polish Society of Phlebology as well as member of many international societies including American Venous Forum and European Venous Forum (current member of EVF Board as well as co-organizer of EVF How courses). Professor Urbanek is member of the European Board of Phlebology. He was the organizer and congress president of the International Union of Phlebology Chapter Meeting in Krakow in August 2019. He is an organizer of International Symposiums on Venous Interventions in Krakow in Poland as well as an organizer of the 2025 Annual Meeting of European Venous Forum in Krakow (June 2025). As volunteer he is the member of AVF International Committee and AVF Programm Committee. He is also president elect of the Polish Society for Vascular Surgery. His main field of interest is pathogenesis and treatment of chronic venous disease, venous thromboembolism prophylaxis and treatment as well as postthrombotic syndrome prevention and treatment.
