Dr Efthymios (Makis) Avgerinos is a Vascular Surgeon, Professor at the University of Athens, Greece.
From 2011 to 2021 he has been working in USA, in his last position as Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery of the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Avgerinos has extensive outcomes’ research and grants in the fields of peripheral arterial and venous thromboembolic diseases serving as principal or sub- investigator in several international trials. He has authored more than 250 peer reviewed publications and chapters on vascular surgery and his work has been widely cited and recognized with international awards. Dr Avgerinos has also been working on medical device innovation and software development, actively engaged with industry and startups.
He is currently serving as a Board Member of the European Venous Forum and he is leading the Venous Education at the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) Academy.
